Green Energy

Green energy has arrived and it here to save the day. There are many benefits to green energy which could be listed for pages but there are also a number of detractors to green energy which will be covered here. Currently it is prohibitively expensive for the initial set up which prevents many people from going green energy-wise.

Another disadvantage to green energy is its un-reliability compared with coal burning and nuclear power plants. To store excess energy large banks of batteries have to be maintained or the power can be sold back to the power company and used to power neighboring houses and buildings. Large appliances can quickly consume a weeks’ worth of wind power in a few hours.

Other disadvantages to green energy are lack of sun or wind to generate any power and converting the energy into usable electricity or heat although every power generator has this problem as well. Many people choose to stay connected to the grid for back-up power and use their solar and wind arrays to lower their monthly bills.
